Membership Expectations
Attendance
Members are allowed three absences in the fall semester (Sept-Dec) and four in the spring semester (Jan-May). Absences should be reported in advance to your section leader. In addition, attending the dress rehearsal is required, and members are expected to participate in all performances unless excused by the director.
Practice
Chorale members should actively engage both in rehearsals and on their own time between rehearsals. Practice tracks are posted to the "Members Only" section, and rehearsal recordings are posted the next day.
Memorization
Concerts are performed without printed music, so members may need extra time beyond rehearsal to memorize their parts. Exceptions may be made for large choral works.
Vibrato
While healthy vocal technique is encouraged, some pieces require straight tone. Members whose natural vibrato is strong will be expected to adjust when needed. If a vocalist cannot adapt, they may not be a good fit for certain repertoire.
Member Information
Rehearsal Schedule
We rehearse Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Occasional Tuesday rehearsals or extra sessions may be scheduled for holidays or concert preparation.
Concert Schedule
We perform at least two concerts every season (usually December and May), and sometimes additional mini-performances in community venues. A full calendar is provided to members each season.
Tuition
Member tuition is set annually by the Board. For the 2025-2026 season, tuition is $110.00. This covers music, administration, and operating costs. New members must also purchase a concert folder ($16). The Chorale receives no municipal funding and is fully supported by member tuition.
Uniforms
The chorale performs in all concert black attire. It is expected that each member purchase and maintain their own concert attire. Men will need a black dress shirt, black suit coat, black dress pants, black socks and dress shoes; women may choose a black dress, skirt and blouse, or black blouse and dress slacks. They will also need black hose or socks and comfortable black shoes.
